Screen Time

Screen Time & Optometry Care in Baton Rouge

Screen time is part of most of our lives at this point. Even for children, screens have become a tool for educational and entertainment purposes. That means that everybody might need to spend more time caring for their eyes. At TRIO Eyecare, we know that eye care can be important when you spend your time looking at screens. These tips may help you understand screen time and may help ensure your eyes are as healthy as possible.

Blue Light Can Tire Your Eyes

Blue light can tire your eyes or your child's eyes, but it can also cause other side effects. These include headaches, blurry vision, and difficulty sleeping. If you and others in your family use screens, you may want to talk to our Dr. Amin about glasses that filter blue light and help prevent its harmful effects.

Holding Screens Further Away Can Be Helpful

In some cases, holding a screen close to the face requires the eyes to zoom in too much. This also causes the eyes to become tired. You can reduce pain and discomfort by ensuring screens are kept at descent length from your eyes.

Taking Breaks Can Help

Children and adults may need to spend time away from screens for optimal eye health. We might recommend a 20-20-20 break. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to look at something about 20 feet away. If you can take more frequent breaks from screens, that might be even better for your eyes.
