Specialty Eye Care

Advanced Solutions for Your Vision, Comfort & Eye Health

Your eyes are unique, and sometimes traditional eye care alone isn’t enough to address the challenges affecting how you see and feel each day.

Our specialty eye care services go beyond routine vision correction to provide personalized solutions for concerns such as dry, irritated eyes, digital eye strain, headaches, light sensitivity, eye fatigue, and visual discomfort.

Using advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, we can better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and recommend an approach tailored to your individual needs.

IPL — Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

Advanced Relief for Dry, Irritated Eyes

If your eyes frequently feel dry, gritty, irritated, watery, or uncomfortable, the underlying cause may involve inflammation or dysfunction of the oil-producing meibomian glands along your eyelids.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an in-office treatment that may be incorporated into the management of certain forms of dry eye disease, particularly when meibomian gland dysfunction is involved.

During treatment, carefully controlled pulses of light are applied to the skin around the eyes. Depending on your individual condition and treatment plan, IPL may help address inflammation and support healthier meibomian gland function, improving the quality of the tear film.

IPL May Be Recommended for Patients Experiencing:

  • Persistent dry or irritated eyes

  • Burning, stinging, or gritty sensations

  • Watery eyes

  • Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)

  • Eyelid inflammation

  • Fluctuating or blurry vision associated with an unstable tear film

  • Dry eye symptoms that haven't responded adequately to traditional at-home care

Because dry eye can have many different causes, we begin with a thorough evaluation to determine whether IPL is appropriate for your eyes.

Neurolens®

When Your Eyes Are Working Overtime

Headaches, tired eyes, neck and shoulder discomfort, and digital eye strain aren't always caused by how clearly you can see. In some cases, they may be associated with the amount of effort your eyes use to work together throughout the day.

Neurolens® lenses use contoured prism technology designed to help address eye misalignment and reduce the demand placed on the visual system.

After evaluating how your eyes work together, our team can determine whether Neurolens may be an appropriate solution for your visual needs.

Neurolens May Be Considered for Symptoms Such as:

  • Frequent headaches
  • Digital eye strain
  • Tired or uncomfortable eyes
  • Neck and shoulder discomfort associated with visual tasks
  • Motion sensitivity
  • Difficulty concentrating during prolonged near work
  • Discomfort after extended computer or device use

For patients who spend hours each day looking at computers, phones, and other digital devices, addressing binocular vision demands can make an important difference in day-to-day visual comfort.

Low-Level Light Therapy

A Gentle Approach to Dry Eye & Meibomian Gland Care

Healthy tears depend on more than moisture alone. The meibomian glands in your eyelids produce oils that help prevent tears from evaporating too quickly. When these glands aren't functioning properly, the result can be ongoing dryness and irritation.

Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) is a noninvasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light as part of a comprehensive approach to managing dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction.

Treatment is comfortable, requires no needles or incisions, and can be incorporated into a customized dry eye treatment plan based on the health of your eyes and eyelids.

LLLT May Be Recommended to Help Manage:

  • Meibomian gland dysfunction

  • Evaporative dry eye

  • Chronic eye irritation

  • Eyelid inflammation

  • Burning or gritty sensations

  • Unstable tear film

Our goal isn't simply to temporarily mask dry eye symptoms. We look for the factors contributing to your discomfort so we can develop a more targeted, long-term management strategy.

Expression

Helping Restore Healthy Oil Flow

Meibomian glands line the upper and lower eyelids and produce the protective oils your tears need to remain stable. When these glands become blocked or their secretions become thickened, tears may evaporate too quickly.

Meibomian gland expression is an in-office treatment designed to help clear obstructed glands and encourage healthier oil flow.

During treatment, controlled pressure is applied to the eyelids to express material from the meibomian glands. Expression may be performed on its own or incorporated into a broader treatment plan alongside therapies such as IPL or Low-Level Light Therapy.

Expression May Be Beneficial for Patients With:

  • Blocked or poorly functioning meibomian glands

  • Evaporative dry eye

  • Burning, gritty, or irritated eyes

  • Fluctuating vision

  • Eyelid discomfort

  • Poor tear-film quality

Your treatment plan will depend on the condition of your meibomian glands, the severity of your symptoms, and other factors identified during your dry eye evaluation.

Specialty Eye Care

Persistent eye discomfort shouldn't automatically be dismissed as something you simply have to live with. Likewise, headaches and eye fatigue may warrant a closer look at how your visual system is functioning.

Our specialty eye care services allow us to look beyond standard vision correction and investigate the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Whether you're struggling with dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction, headaches, digital eye strain, or ongoing visual discomfort, we'll work with you to identify your needs and determine which treatment options may be appropriate.
